My question is for the Minister for Public Transport, and I ask: when will the minister direct the Department of Transport, together with Metro Trains, to re-examine and re-coordinate the 600, 922, 923 and 822 bus timetables so that bus departures and train arrivals at Sandringham station are effectively coordinated for local commuters?
After surveying local commuters, the overwhelming response showed that the train and bus timetables run counter to each other, often leaving commuters left in the dark or in the rain for up to 45 minutes. School students, working parents and the elderly have been forced to unnecessarily wait for a bus connection. The service and frequency of buses in my electorate are important to my community, and they are used by thousands of people every single day. The minister recently declined my request to increase bus services in the area; however, I ask now that she consider retimetabling existing services so they are a better coordinated.
