Constituency Question
Legislative Assembly
19 June 2019
My question is to the Minister for Transport Infrastructure.
On the Level Crossing Removal Project website it states that ‘Feedback and ideas from the community will be presented at the Group’s meetings as designs are developed’.
It further states ‘local traders and businesses to help shape the Project’.
My question to the minister is: how does the Andrews Labor government intend to implement the requests of Mentone traders into the current station designs?
Last Monday I once again met with Mentone traders, and they told me that they do not want the entrance of Mentone station moved 200 metres away from the current entrance location.
They further told me that they require additional car parking within the existing station precinct and not simply a commitment to replace car parks like-for-like in and around the Mentone area.
It is critically important that these requests of Mentone traders be met; otherwise it will affect the viability of local businesses in that area in the future.
